Intermodal transport mixes road and rail modalities moving any kind of goods and optimizing delivery times. Each intermodal shipment limits significantly the energy consumption and offers a real contribution to environmental protection reducing CO2 emissions by 55% compared with road transport.
The global environment politics adopted by EU establish that within 2030 the 30% of goods travelling by road for more than 350 km will compulsorily have to travel by rail. Rail transports permit a load capacity 15% greater than road transports, protect energy resources and reduce risks of road accidents. The service offered by Serapide Trans covers national and international routes and is carried out by two different modalities: - conventional intermodality: loading goods into traditional rail cars, - pure intermodality (rail-road): loading goods into containers and swap bodies.
Further to grant a growth process due to company strengthening, and with the aim of offering original and efficient solutions, Serapide Trans invested in a 7.200 sqmt warehouse intended to intermodality and storage. This warehouse is linked to the intermodal terminal by an internal rail assisted by a 40 tons overhead travelling crane. It is the ideal solution to satisfy different necessities and in particular it allows fast and safe load and unload of any kind of coils.
